Date Night

Joe and I had a delicious date tonight in Little Italy!! I've never been and it was so fantastic!! There were so many different restaurants I almost wanted to go in and eat one thing from each one! We eventually decided on a place he had been to and knew it was different, unexpected, and delicious! He said to just expect to try things I wouldn't normally eat. We started out with the bruschetta, which the toppings change nightly. Tonight's was cauliflower, green beans, red peppers, arugula, and the typical olive oil and freshly grated parmesan. They had to have done something magical to it, because it was simply divine! Joe ordered the burger, which was by far the best burger I've ever had, and shoe string fries, also amazing. I ordered the ravioli, which was a large ravioli stuffed with egg, spinach, and ricotta cheese, swimming in a sea of garlic parmesan oil of some kind. I could have easily eaten ten of them because they were SO good!! After we finished our drinks we walked around and I eventually decided we would need to eat in Little Italy every week until I tried every restaurant. We went into the Yogurtland, and it was the best "you top it" place I've ever been to! So many flavors, so many toppings, and so delectable! It was a very fun night that was wrapped up with a walk along the bay before heading home! Such a yummy evening, now I'm hungry again! Oh, and Joe took a bunch of pictures of me :D

Something Urban

Since Joe has spent most of the last few weeks hiking through the desert, he said he wanted to do something urban today. So we first went to Jamba Juice, since Markus learned to say it this morning, and it was so stinkin' cute. After that we headed over to one of the less crowded malls in the area. To our surprise there was an event going on with lots of booths, live music, and a car show! Markus loved the cars and Joe was excited to now have a little car buddy. We came across a couple beautiful cars that Joe and I would love. We also saw "Bumblebee" from the Transformers, and Markus kept screaming "Bumbee". Once we looked at all the cars we wandered through the booths and the kids got to check out a police car. Then we went in and pick out a couple shirts for the kids since there was a sale. The last thing we did was go in the toy store, where the kids had a great time! Joe bought Joli a pretty necklace and Markus a dinosaur puppet, but Markus was so in love with the giant magnifying glass he found, we ended up trading his puppet for it! Now we're home and everyone is sleeping! Such bliss! I can't figure out why this app makes the pictures all out of order, but here they are....

Riding the Train

Last Friday we had the wonderful opportunity to have lunch with one of my closest friends from high school! Since we were meeting up in Oceanside, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to take the kids on the train! They were so excited!!

 Markus could hardly contain himself!

Joli just wanted to get on the train already! The line was not exciting.

Once we were on, both the kids practically (and sometimes literally), jumping up and down! Markus kept screaming "Choo-choo" at the top of his lungs, and then they'd both start squealing! I hope no one on the train planned for a quiet ride.

Trains might be Markus' #1 favorite thing now (even over guns!).

It was such a beautiful ride!

Once we got there it was only two blocks to the pier!

We walked all the way down to the end of the pier and met Heidi at Ruby's diner! Markus was tired and hungry and pretty much crazy, but Joli was as sweet as the milkshakes we had!

There was a balloon man that made balloon figures for the kids.

Markus was way into my dark chocolate strawberry milkshake though.

Joli loved her little pink flower.

Once we finished our yummy meal and awesome visit with Heidi, Joli and I played on the beach while Markus took a much needed snooze in the stroller.

Then we walked back over to the train station, got some frozen lemonade, and waited for the train.

The kids were just as excited on the train ride back, and this time we took the four seat spot and stretched out a bit. I could have easily napped!

Such a beautiful view!

We were all very tired and happy from a wonderful day.
Markus went to bed before dinner and Joli had no problem falling asleep either! It was so awesome and we will definitely be doing it again, maybe with Joe!
