We still had a one-day park hopper pass for Disneyland, so as an end of summer treat we took the kids up to Disneyland! Now that Markus is a little older and has seen a lot of the Disney movies, it was so fun watching his reaction!
We headed to California Adventure first to check out the new Carsland! Joli was just so excited to be there she didn't care what we did!
Markus was really excited until we walked about eight feet inside the gate, then he wanted to be held. We were trying to convince him that there were a lot of cool things to see and that he would want to walk up and see them all, but he didn't buy it and we ended up having a bit of a meltdown. I'm sure he was just overwhelmed.
Joli was pretty much an angel all day. She didn't whine or complain really at all, even when Markus was having a tantrum she just waited patiently and took it all in!
Soon a trolley show came by and did an excellent job distracting and calming our monster.
Then we headed to Carsland.
It was so cool and so accurate!!
We got a little snack in Markus and he was somewhat manageable while we waited in line to ride one of the rides.
We finally made it on the ride after about 20 minutes (longest line we ended up in all day!), which was pretty fun, although not really worth the wait.
Markus was just happy to be around all the car stuff!
When we came out of the ride Lightening McQueen was meeting people, so we headed right over!
Then I tried to get a picture of the kids in front of the city hall....
Joe went and got the kids some ice cream to try and help with the heat, and it ended up being a pretty good distraction technique despite the rate at which it was melting!
After we finished the ice cream we decided that what we really wanted to see was Disneyland, so we headed that direction and ran into Goofy!!
Finally we made into Disneyland!!!
We wanted to make sure we got to eat at our favorite restaurant, so we headed in that direction first.
We walked by Thunder Mountain Railroad along the way and since it was only a five minute wait, Joe and Joli went on in!
Markus absolutely LOVED watching the train go around, and we found a nice shady spot to do it.
It was hard to figure out which train they were on because it was going so fast, but I managed to get a picture!
Afterward we down to the bar-b-que restaurant. It such a great place! It costs as much as anything else in the park, but you get real food and great atmosphere!
On the way out of the restaurant there is a petting zoo with animals all named after Disney characters! So cute!!
Joli was finally tall enough to go on Splash Mountain and couldn't hardly wait, so we started to make our way there.
We had to walk by the train again, which is never a bad thing.
As we were walking past Pirates of the Caribbean, we noticed that the line was only five minutes, so of course we went right in! Markus wasn't too sure about the dark factor, but he ended up dancing toward the end!
