Our Faerie Journey Begins!

Yesterday we started towards Oregon for the faerie festival! Joli and I stopped at the lodge where Joe and I got married. Here is the spot where we were married. There used to be a much bigger tree before the lodge burned down. Since they've rebuilt they've only planted a few smaller ones.
This is the new gazebo that has built for weddings now.
This is the fountain on the front lawn.
We finally made it to our campsite and were able to set up our tents in semi-darkness. Victoria was wonderful at entertaining Joli by showing her all the fun things in our camping area.
Today the festivities begin!!

"My Daddy"

Joli and I drove Joe to the airport today. While we continue on our enormous vacation, Joe sadly has to go back to work. So we dropped him off and he flew home. Joli didn't quite understand. But she gave him some love anyway.

As soon as we got back in the car Joli realized that wasn't actually coming back with us and then she was really upset. She said "I don't want to go Faerie festival, I want to go home, I want Daddy". I tried to explain that it would go by very fast and we would see him very soon, but she still continued to say "My Daddy" throughout the drive back to the in-laws.

Burned Tootsies

This morning we began getting ourselves ready to head back to Grammi and Papas. While I was getting everything together, Joli decided to play pool...
Since Joe went off with Sam, I took Joli to Kid's Kingdom. It's this huge playground that was built when I was a kid. She had a blast.
This is the little tot area that Joli spent a little bit of time in. She's right at that in between stage where the little playground is too small but the big playground is almost too big.
After climbing through all the tunnels, Joli found some swinging tires.
There is also an airplane that she can fly herself. I told her she had to pretend to fly, she wanted it to actually fly.
When I was a teenager there was a water area put in next to the playground. It's a huge volcano that erupts water at certain times throughout the day. This is the entrance.
Joli headed straight for the alligator that she wante to stand on.
I think these little holes were broken because only a few of them shot out water and it wasn't very much. Joli enjoyed it anyway.
Here is the volcano. We weren't there long enough to see it erupt but I hear it's pretty cool.
Eventually Joli got bored and went back to the playground to cross some bridges.
After we came home we ate some lunch and decided to get in the pool. It was about 110 degrees by then but the pool was very nice. As we were getting out Joli stopped to pee and didn't realize the ground was so hot. I was standing by the backdoor waiting for her when she started to run across the sand, but it was so hot on her feet that it was burning her and she was in too much pain to keep going. By the time I got her out of the sand and into the house she was in serious pain. I tried to comfort her but it soon became obvious that she was really burnt and I got some clothes on her and took her over to the emergency room. By this point she had stopped crying and wanted to play with the toys in the waiting room.
It didn't take too long for the doctor to see us and she confirmed that Joli had second degree burns on the bottoms of her feet. She prescribed a cream and said to then cover her feet in gauze and wrap them to keep them from getting infected.
By the time we got back to Sam's it was after 4:00pm and Joli had had an exhausting day and no nap. It didn't take long for her to remedy that.
The next few days I'll have to reapply the cream once a day and try to keep her feet dry. I'm just thankful that she can still walk!

More Summer Fun

Today was high temperatures again and we were all miserable until we went down to the creek. Joli enjoyed being in mostly shallow water that she could stand in.
Brody enjoys swimming but not so much when he's being pulled in.
Brothers are so silly.
This was a perfect spot to wrestle and shove each other under the water.
The puppies were perfectly happy watching everything.
Uncle Sam came over to the shallow area and was giving Joli rides on his back.
Once Joe came back over to watch the puppies, I went in the water and tried to catch the fish swimming between my feet.
We were mostly cooled off but still sweaty. We headed back to Sam's house and the boys played video games. Joli got the broken remote.
Since we were still hot, we waited til the sun went down and went and got in the pool. The boys tried to make a tower again. It's easier with Joli on top.
Some goofy game where you have to go underneath each other but can't let go of each others hands.
Now they have to figure out how to get back.
Joli was so cute jumping off the diving board. She would put her hands up like she was going to dive and then she would full on jump.
If only summer could last forever.

Family

Joe's whole family came over to have a BBQ at Sam's house. Rosie came and was not thrilled at two puppies.
There was swimming again.
William in a wheelchair.
Joli got to go for a ride on the dirt bike.
After it cooled down we all went for a walk on the Sundial Bridge.
William was superman and climbed one of the ropes.
Joli has enjoyed the pool table while we've been here.
She's not quite tall enough to play pool, but it's fun anyway.
Off to another day.

Wet and Wild

We can always count on it to be blazing hot here in the summer. Today was no different. Sam had to work this morning so we mostly hid in the air conditioning. After he got off we all headed down to the creek for a swim. We thought the dogs might have a good time so we took them down with us. I completely forgot to bring my camera down from the car but this is how they were on the way back to the house.
Every one had a great time. There were wild blackberries on the other side of the creek so Joe and Sam took Joli over there and they picked until their stomachs hurt. Ashley and I sat in about two inches of water and kept the dogs from running off. Jax didn't really want to get in the water and Brody either wanted to swim over to Joe or sit in my lap. It's not such a big deal now but when he's twice the size he is now it might not be as comfortable. Before too long we started to head back to the car, and then back to Sam's house to swim some more in the pool. Joli enjoyed this because didn't have her life jacket down at the creek so she couldn't really swim too much there.Brody was also excited to be able to get in some good swim time as he kept being pulled downstream while at the creek.
I think he was tired though because he didn't stay in too long.
Before too long we were all bored of the pool and Sam talked us into doing a slip and slide out front. Joli was thrilled at the idea but then once the opportunity was there she did NOT want to get on it. It helped that Joe kept spraying with the hose!
After a few minutes Joli went in to take a nap and the boys went nuts playing in the water. The dogs thought it was so fun watching them slide across and then jumping on them once they stopped.
Here's Joe going head first into the water.
Another nice sliding shot.
Now the duo goes.
Here they are doing their best beached whale impression.
Jax is such a little turd. He wants to wrestle with Brody all the time and after awhile Brody just wants to take a nap. Here's Jax all bummed out 'cause Brody's sleeping again.
Joe has decided that once we get our rec room we are buying a bunch of these giant bean bag chairs. They are pretty awesome and very comfortable. Jax has plenty of room even as Joli jumps up and down!
Another enjoyable day, off to start another one.
