Making Cookies

I've been wanting to do some baking with Markus and today seemed like the perfect day. He wanted to wear the blue apron, which I think is so sweet since it was my Great Grandma Grill's!
I wore my apron that Grandma Lori made me a couple years ago!
We decided to make whole wheat, pumpkin, dark chocolate chip cookies! We started with two cups of whole wheat flour.
 Then a teaspoon of salt.
 A teaspoon of Baking Soda.
 And a teaspoon of cinnamon.
I also had Markus sprinkle in some cloves and nutmeg for added flavor.
Next we mixed it all together.
Then we got another bowl and put in a half cup of softened butter, and a cup of sugar.
Then a cup of brown sugar.
 We mixed that together.
Then we added a beaten egg, and a teaspoon of vanilla.
Then finally a half cup of pumpkin.
 We mixed it together.
Then Markus slowly added our flour mixture.
And lastly he added a cup of dark chocolate chips (he may have eaten 8-12 chips in the process).
Now I know you're not supposed to eat raw cookie dough, but you know what? Shut it.
While Markus "cleaned" the beater, I dropped spoonfuls of dough onto our cookie sheet. He was very proud!

Then we put the cookie sheet in our preheated 350 degree oven, and Markus watched them bake for 10-12 minutes!
The dogs knew something edible was being made, and couldn't hardly stand that they weren't being included.

Then the cookies were ready to come out of the oven!
Markus, puppy, and I had a healthy lunch while we waited for the cookies to cool.
It was a lot of work making cookies.

Once we finished our lunch it was time to taste the cookies! They were given a very tasty smile!
Yesterday I was at a thrift store and came across a complete Wolverine costume for only $4!! Of course the store owners could not have possibly known the gold mine they had! So today I explained to Markus that there was an awesome new prize to pick from once all his chores were done. He was a little hesitant to get started, but once he did, he did a great job! Then he was shocked to see what the prize was!! He was a very happy little boy!

It turned out to be a pretty nice day :)

And we were the lucky recipients of some of those wonderful, close to healthy, cookies. Thank you, Markus and Momma Lisa, you're the best. And Mr. M, you are a very handsome Wolverine!
