Exploring the Animals!

It's been a few months since we've been to the zoo, but Markus has started playing with the toy animals that we have, and asking about them. So I figured he'd love seeing the animals at the zoo! Turns out I was right, he had such a great time!!!

The rhinos were especially interesting to him. He stared with his mouth wide open!

Then I pointed out the giraffes and he squealed and ran towards them!

Markus loved the giraffes and didn't want to stop looking at them!

Since Joli has been to the zoo numerous times in her life, she's not as interested in just looking at the animals. So in an effort to expand her mind, we make sure to talk about the plant life, the smaller animals, and what countries the animals are from.

This was the first time we've taken Markus to the zoo without the stroller. The idea being that we would just walk around until he was tired, and then go home. After about an hour he was hot and hungry, so I changed his shirt and gave him a snack.

Then we continued on our way.

We got to see the condors close up, and Joli and I discussed the unique way they like to eat.

As usual we had to take some time to see the snakes.

Then we took a little break in the shade!

On the way to the elephant exhibit there's a little movie about elephants. Of course the kids loved it.

The elephants weren't really too close, so after looking at them briefly, we came to the llamas.

Then Joli wanted to pose with the elephants.

What a ham!

We checked out the tar pit.

Then I made an executive decision, because I was hot and tired, and so was Markus. So we took the Skyfari back to the entrance and headed out.

Since it was Markus' first real interactive trip to the zoo, I thought we should get something to continue the experience. I let Markus pick between the rhino and giraffe and he picked the giraffe. I told Joli to pick her favorite animal that she saw today and she picked the elephant. They had a great time playing with them.

Joli started pretending to feed her elephant and then Markus brought over his giraffe and did the same thing!

It was such a fun morning! Now that Markus is out of the baby stage, things are getting even more exciting!
