The kids and I counted down every day last week, excited for when "Auntie Jess coming home!", as Markus kept saying! We were so happy they finally arrived! Since they had done so much driving to get to us, we spent Friday relaxing at the house and just getting reacquainted.
On Saturday we were very excited to take the kids up to Oceanside to meet our dear friend, Heidi! The three of us girls were always together in high school, and it was simply wonderful to all be back together again! After having lunch at the end of the pier, we headed down towards the sand. Markus had a growling match with a pelican along the way. I was slightly concerned that the bird was going to get sick of him and just bite him!
Once we were down in the sand, the kids ran and played and had a great time, while us girls got to talk.
It was phenomenal to be back together again!!
Since today was Jess' birthday, we got a babysitter after the beach and went out downtown together! We had cheese and wine, a great dinner, and ended the night with more wine on a rooftop bar! Plus there was so much catching up! It was great, and hopefully a good birthday for Jess!
