The Shower

Since Joe had a four day weekend, he came with Joli and I, and made a quick trip up to Sam and Ashley's for their baby shower. Sometimes you just need to be comfy in the car.
Joli was so excited to try out her new DVD player and headphones. I found special children's headphone that fit her head and she LOVES them!
Joe always complains that I don't put up a lot of pictures of him, but this is why!
The shower was a ton of fun. It brought back a lot of fun memories for both Joe and I.
Joli made a lot of new friends and got to see her cousins again! I love the look on Anastasia's face.

She always migrates to the older children. Now if I could just convince her not to try and kiss everyone!
Of course Alexander is a lot of fun too! He is one of our friend's little boy, and Joli thinks he's great. Maybe it's because he shares his cars with her, who knows?
Now that Joe knows he's having a boy, he borrowed his little nephew, Benjamin, as much as he could.
He's so excited!
It's been at least two years since Joe and Sam have all been together with their sister, Noel.
It's very hard to have such a beautiful cake just sitting there waiting to be eaten.
Joe and Sam were being silly and cut the cake together.
Ashley got a few cool gifts from her mom. These are her first baby shoes.
Here is the outfit that she was brought home from the hospital in and the sweatshirt that she wore ALL the time as a toddler.
Sam and Ashley were very grateful for one of the gifts we gave them. I found an awesome diaper bag and packed it full with all the things necessary in taking care of a baby.
Here is a gift that one of the guys wrapped up for Sam. Can you guess what it is?
Papa had a wonderful time chatting with his granddaughters.
Finally Joli got to enjoy the cake and cupcakes.
One of the cooler gifts that Sam and Ashley got was this piggy bank which they passed around the shower.
This was Sam's favorite gift. He's convinced that his baby girl is going to wear it when the Packers go to the Super Bowl next year.
Joli always finds a way to entertain herself. Even if it's just counting beads.
I think Joli had a few moments when her lack of sleep was starting to catch up to her.
I actually got a smile from the unsmiling girl!!
Eventually the gifts were all opened and every one was full, so there was a little play time outside.
Joe was a total rock star with the balloons. This kids followed him around for about an hour.

Of course Uncle Sam figured out the quickest was to upset all the children.
I'm not sure if it was just because she was tired or so upset, but Joli watched the balloons until they were out of sight.
Then she played with the weights for awhile.
Joli and I slept most of the way home. None of us got much sleep this weekend. Even Joe slept for a couple hours in the car.
It was a very fun and exhausting weekend. We're happy to be back to our beds.
