"The Man"

My Dad, Stepmom, and Stepsister were here visiting this week and we thought it would be fun to go check out The Midway. For those who do not live in San Diego, The Midway is a retired ship that was used in several wars including World War II. It now sits in the San Diego Bay for people to tour. So we all took a little trip down to the bay to check it out. It was pretty neat, but it was hard to explain things to Joli in terms that she could understand. So we just made things up, kind of.

This is the "Shower Man". Keep in mind that after we told Joli what things were in our tour, she would then say good bye to them as we moved on. It was very amusing to the people behind us to hear her saying things like "Bye shower man".
Once we were up in the hangar Joli got to try out the different seats for the airplanes and helicopters. She went around to each one pointing and saying "seat, seat" and then climbing in them.
We also got to sit in the cockpit of one plane. Joli loved the buttons!
This is the "Cook Man". Bye cook man.
Here is Joli "driving the ship". She couldn't understand that it just opened the door, so we let her believe it was the steering wheel.
Here is the "Server Man".
Now this one was even harder to explain. Why would anyone have fake pie?
The audio part of the tour was on headsets that we were given at the beginning. Joli thought that because she could hear someone talking through them then that meant that they were a phone. She spent a large part of the tour saying
"hey wow" into the headset.
This sign explains the following picture. I just thought it was too important to pass up.
Here is the "Surgery Man".
And always a favorite the "Drug Man". He's in the pharmacy by the way.
Here is Joli "calling someone".
Now this thing was a sheet of plexiglass over a hole four stories deep. I was very afraid to be on it, but trying to show Joli that it was actually safe. She didn't believe me. She did like looking at the "Bomb Man".
I thought this statue was so cool!! We have this poster up in our hallway, but the statue is right there on the bay!
Seeing the carriers from across the bay also seemed very pretty!
Here is Joli "talking" to the "Pilot Man" in one of the helicopters on the flight deck.
Overall we had a pretty good time.
