Grandma Betty's

One of my most favorite places in the whole wide world is my Grandma Betty's house!! Today I took the kids up to visit her, and they were both in a great mood, super sweet, and there wasn't a single tantrum! It was such a relaxing and amazing day.
Grandma took us out into the field to pick blackberries. We brought a BIG bucket!

Eventually Markus got hot and thought he was going to melt into the ground, so Grandma took us back through the woods.

Markus found a great "sitting tree" as he called it. It was a nice place to sit, although I would have climbed much higher.

Then he found "a little boy climbing tree".
When we got back to the house everyone was hot, so we decided to go to the river for a swim.

I had to explain to Joli about how currents work so that she wouldn't get swept away.
Markus was happy playing in the shallow water.
Joli did great swimming across and back, but she also learned that there's quite a temperature difference in a river compared to a lake!
We played for quite awhile and had a very lovely time, but we were starting to get tired and Grandma Betty had made a pie that we were sure we needed to go have a piece of, so we headed back!

When we got back the kids were pleased to see that the cows had come up next to the road! They would probably frolic and play in the field with them if I had said it was okay!

After our piece of homemade blackberry pie with vanilla ice cream, we all laid down on the couch for a little while.
When we woke up Grandma had made a delicious meatloaf and baked potatoes!! Grandma's sure is the good life! Once we finished cleaning up from dinner, we decided to go check the other field for blackberries.
 It's all about the journey.

We weren't quite as lucky with the berries on that side, so we came back to gather our things and start saying good bye. I was very sad to leave as I don't get to see Grandma nearly as much as I'd like, but hopefully we'll get to spend a few more hours with her before we have to go home!
Once we got to Aunt Karen's, Leslie and her kids were here, and they were all thrilled to see each other! They immediately ran off to play together!

Markus was excited to see the four wheeler out, and Uncle Albert helped him figure out how to use it.

It was a heart filling day :)
