Day Eight - "Small Town Living"

Since Chris had to work on Wednesday, Kacie and I decided to do activities that weren't too ambitious with four children. We went to the community center in the small village near their house to play at the playground.

After an hour or so of playing and snacks, we thought we should walk down and check out the pond.
We walked past the community garden along the way. It was so awesome! Every city should have one of these!
Along the way we came to the creek, and unfortunately weren't aware of how high or fast it was moving!
Of course the kids walked right up to the edge, and we were sure that Markus was going to jump in!
Luckily they kept on moving and I didn't have to jump in after them!
 Then they spotted a puddle!
Here is the creek! Oy vey!
Luckily they were perfectly happy playing in the puddle that was actually nice and cool! We put our feet in too!

We made it down to the pond and Joli was thrilled to see the cat tails. She kept reaching for them and playing with them. Then she fell in! It was hilarious!
Although Charlotte and Markus were happy to check out the pond, they didn't get quite as close as Joli.

It didn't take long for the kids to get bored and start to head back toward the car, and the puddle.

Once we got back to the house there were some guys and big machines working on the driveway, which was super exciting to the younger two.

After lunch and a nap, we thought it would be fun to take the kids to the local bookstore. They had a lot of fun! There were so many cool things to look at, Joli and I could have spent all day in there! Markus was so excited that before long he was running around and screaming. So we thought it was about time to head out.
On the way out I got a picture of the path walking up to the bookstore. It's so cute!!
The next stop was the Orvis fly fishing store to feed the fish! They were some big beautiful fish!

Markus dumped his entire first cup of food in the pond before I could even say "one at a time". Luckily they were only a quarter a cup!

I just loved the stained glass window on the front of the building. So pretty!

This is one of the houses on the road out of the village, and I'm pretty sure it's my dream house! I just love the giant porch, trees, accents! Oh I love it!
It was incredibly warm out, so our next stop was the dairy barn for some ice cream! This was on the window and I just thought it was so cute.
The kids couldn't eat the ice cream fast enough, it was melting everywhere!
Then they were pretending to be the Statue of Liberty with their ice cream. I just love their enthusiasm!
The kids were pretty exhausted after such a big day (I think Kacie and I were more exhausted), so we headed home for some dinner and then to bed!
