Day Six - "The Rainy Day"

Our first day in Vermont was full of rain and thunderstorms, but we had been doing so much, we were perfectly happy relaxing at Chris and Kacie's. The kids started getting slightly rowdy mid morning, so we sent them out to play for a little while. But it was wet and sprinkling, and the only one that actually wanted to be outside was Markus.

There are so many fun creature in Vermont!

Eventually the pouty children won and we headed back inside.
After lunch and a nap, Joli wanted to head out into the woods and look for fairies. The only problem being that she was much more likely to encounter mosquitoes, ticks, salamanders, and possibly bears. So I walked the hundred feet or so into the woods that it took for her to realize there were too many uncomfortable barriers for her.

This is when Joli said she was ready to head back.
This was Markus' reaction to such news.

Somehow Joli talked him into walking back.
Then I stayed outside with him while Joli went in to play with Charlotte.

The mosquitoes were just awful, and Markus didn't last too much longer than Joli did! Once we got inside, we discovered a surprise in the basement!

This was the moment when I should have realized that there was a good chance someone was end up with a black eye (and did).
When Chris got home he fired up the grill, and Markus went outside to help him out.

He decided he didn't want to be outside anymore, but could not figure out why I wouldn't let him wear the wet rain boots in the house...
