Day Thirteen - "Virginia Beach"

On Monday Robyn took us to the Army base in Virginia Beach. There were a couple old lighthouses that were so cool!! We could only go in one of them, and you had to be over a certain height, so we decided to walk around instead.

I loved looking at these adorable little bugs. They were everywhere!!
As we wandered, we found a path over to the beach. It was Mikey's first time, and was not sure what to think of the sand.

Even though we have a beach at our house, it is nothing like the east coast! Joli loved touching the Atlantic Ocean, and Markus loved that there weren't giant waves!

I was fascinated by all the boats coming in and out, and the bridge that goes out like fifteen miles to a peninsula!!
It was fun to put our toes in the water and talk about what was on the other side of the ocean.

Since it was Mikey's first time on the beach, he had to get his feet wet. Unfortunately he did not agree!

Apparently he is not such a huge fan of the water yet!
"Uh, it's touching me again!"
"Nooooooo!!!!!"
Markus and I had the greatest time trying to catch a glimpse of these little crabs.
They were so fast though!!!
Joli found all kinds of little creatures.

"Look mom! Someone left a sandcastle!"

"Hmmm, perhaps I should knock it down!"
"There, I got it all."
"Wait! Missed a spot!"
"Now it's gone." The boy's all about the destruction.

On our way out I took a few more pictures from the hill.

The kids found a small pile of shells bring home.

I also got a few more pictures of the lighthouses.

As we walked by the plaque for the stone lighthouse, I told Joli when the lighthouse was built. She responded with "Wow! That was before you were born!". Thanks dear...

We got back to the house and got ready for a little girl's dinner. Ironically, most of the kids were little boys!
Mathew is getting so big, he's going to be walking any day now!

Markus just loves Mikey! He talks about him all the time!!

We had such a lovely time seeing our friends! We miss having them close by, and watching all their beautiful babies grow. After the kids all went to bed, all us girls stayed up with some wine and chatted for hours! It was wonderful!!
